At Shining Peak, we’re strong believers that every business should have a social mission at its core. Our mission is for our beer to make the world a better place.
Every month 5% of our beer revenues from our venues, are donated to a different New Zealand organisation. Not profits…… revenues, that’s approximately 30 to 50% of our venues profit – we give away to local organisations each and every month. No terms and conditions, no small print – we just put the money straight into the back pockets of important local organisations and charities across New Zealand.

The Taranaki Toy Library has been an established part of the New Plymouth community for years, supporting whanau by providing access to high-quality early learning resources. These include over 1,800 toys, puzzles, and games that are carefully curated to promote play, learning, and development in children. With over 200 member groups (primarily families with young children) we make it possible for local families to borrow resources for two weeks at a time, much like a traditional library.
Our service not only fosters educational opportunities but also contributes to strengthening the bonds between family members. By making these resources affordable and broadly accessible, we help reduce financial barriers to early childhood enrichment, ensuring that more families can give their tamariki the tools they need to thrive.
However, due to demand, our current location has become too small. The limited space restricts the number of member families we can serve and the variety of items we can offer (particularly larger items like slides, ramps, and push cars that are highly sought after by our members). To truly meet the needs of our membership base and ensure the sustainability of our service, we need to move to a larger premises.
The funds raised through Shining Peak’s 5% programme will have a meaningful impact on our ability to continue serving the community. These funds will help us cover essential running costs (enabling us to keep fees low), whilst generating funds for our vision of a larger, family friendly space that can support more families and resources.

We're on the hunt for our first 5% Project recipient in the South Island. That's right – 5% of our beer revenues from Sumner Post Office will go directly to a worthy cause. If you’re part of, or know of, an incredible initiative that could use our support, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us an email to beer@shiningpeakbrewing.com and let’s make the world a better place, one jug at a time.
