At Shining Peak we’re strong believers that every business should have a social mission at its core. Our mission is for our beer to make the world a better place.

Every month 5% of our beer revenues from our venues, are donated to a different local Taranaki organisation. Not profits…… revenues, that’s approximately 30 to 50% of our venue’s profit – we give away to local organisations each and every month. No terms and conditions, no small print – we just put the money straight into the back pockets of important local organisations and charities here in Taranaki.

Drink Beer, Do Good.

YMCA Taranaki Youth Services

YMCA Taranaki Youth Services Department are a not-for-profit organisation that work with our rangatahi aged between 12 and 24. All the programmes we offer are free. We currently run all our programmes at our YMCA Taranaki Community Hub on the Corner of Liardet and Pendarves Street.

Programmes within our department range from our Youth Justice and Mentoring Programmes which are for those aged 14- 17 who have found themselves in the justice system or care and protection, to youth education programmes for those who are struggling in a mainstream educational environment. Also, initiatives for those transitioning out of the care and protection sector and needing guidance, support and education to enter into the adult world of independence, and lastly, services where we provide pastoral support for those needing help and guidance and a safe and enjoyable venue for our rangatahi to engage in activities.

We have an amazing team that does incredible work with our rangatahi. As you can imagine these rangatahi come with an extensive amount of challenging behaviours and issues which can be a lot of work but our team know they are worth it. Creating opportunities, role modelling positive behaviours, improving communication skills and teamwork are just some of the skills we work hard to instill in them.
