Hāpi Hop Research Pack

This limited release pack brings together three collaborating breweries for a Hāpi Hop Research project commissioned for Hāpi Symposium in March 2026. 

Shining Peak Brewing, Brave Brewing and Altitude Brewing brewed three different styles of beer, each using identical amounts of Nelson Sauvin and Southern Cross hops from the Tasman region. Each brewery had the discretion to decide when to introduce their hops to the brewing cycle. Once packaged, the beers were sent to a lab to analyze the levels of thiols, esters, and terpenes extracted through different brewing processes. Results will be presented at the Hāpi Symposium in late-March in Nelson.

This project aims to give fresh insight into how different hopping techniques impact beer: which aroma compounds make it, what’s lost, and how to dial in flavour with intent.
